USB monitor technology is a convenient, simple and low cost method of connecting monitors to a Windows computer. Just one USB cable is all that is required to get your Lilliput monitor connected - all power, video and touch screen (if the model supports it) is sent through one cable.
Lilliput are rapidly introducing new USB monitor models, featuring larger screen sizes, more mounting options and lower prices.
In order to experience the benefits of USB monitor technology, there are minimum system requirements for USB monitors. It is important to bear these points in mind before deciding to use a USB monitor for your application:
USB monitors are USB 2.0 peripherals. Customers will need to connect their USB monitors to USB 2.0 ports.
Lilliput USB monitors are only officially supported on Windows operating systems (XP, Vista, 7). Although there are Macintosh and Linux drivers available, these are incomplete drivers and therefore not supported.
Cable lengths cannot exceed the length supplied (usually between 50 cm and 100 cm) without supplying external power, and powered USB hubs will not solve this.
Video resolutions are fixed. Unlike HDMI/DVI and VGA, video resolutions cannot be changed from the native resolution.
Though there are certain restrictions with USB monitors, Lilliput has experienced a significant amount of growth within the digital signage markets thanks to the simplicity and price point of USB monitors.
