AV over IP

Computer networks are optimal for distributing information across a large number of devices separated by large physical distance. These properties are ideal for broadcast and live events applications where multiple cameras are installed at different locations on big sets or venues. However, data throughput limits in traditional computer networks could not meet the quality demands of the broadcast industry, such as high resolution, high framerate, low latency and low artefacting. Recent advances in video and audio compression techniques, simplified protocols (such as NDI®) and computer network bandwidth have now made broadcast-quality video distributed over a conventional computer network possible. For example, NDI®|HX3 enables 4K video at 60 fps, with under 100 ms latency and no visible compression artefacts, while NDI High Bandwidth promises 4K video at 60 fps with ultra-low latency and almost lossless image quality. Lilliput UK offers a range of AV over IP hardware solutions, based on the latest industry standards, to help live events venues and broadcasters migrate to network-based workflows.
